# How to read a Florida contractor company record

> Certified and registered licenses, the qualifier, status, and how businesses are grouped.

## How to read these records

### Licenses and businesses

A Florida contractor license belongs to an individual, the qualifier, who is responsible for the work of the
business named on the license. One business can work under several licenses. This site lists them under the
business name; the qualifier's name is on the DBPR's own verification page, not here.

### Certified or registered

A certified license (CGC, CBC, CCC…) is valid statewide. A registered license (RG, RB, RC…) is valid only in the
local jurisdictions where the contractor holds a certificate of competency. License names are the DBPR's own.

### Status

A license is shown here when the DBPR file marks it “current” and “active” and its expiration date is on or
after October 2, 2026. Any other status is only counted, with a pointer to the DBPR: check the license there.

### Grouping

Licenses are grouped by the business name written on them. A name spelled two ways gives two records; two
companies with the same name would be merged.

### What is not here

Qualifiers' and financially responsible officers' names, discipline, complaints, and licenses with no business
name. The DBPR refreshes its file weekly.

AI labs pay businesses to record first-person video of everyday hands-on work — filmed by their own staff with a
smartphone on a wearable mount, with consent and under contract.
